When it comes to design, I love breaking the rules.
It seems people fell out of love with wallpaper for a period. Sure mom had it, and it was atrocious, but done the right way, wallpaper can feel fresh. That's what I look for oftentimes - wallpapers that are bold, beautiful and colorful - a fresh take on wallpaper you might say. In many cases they're the statement that really makes a room and adds so much more personality than a solid colored wall is able to do.
When working on a Chicago home (recently featured in Lonny Magazine) I blended more classic wallpaper patterns with transitional pieces to give the space a preppy neo-traditional feel. This home went from an all brown drab-fest to an eclectic, vibrant space. Check it out on Lonny.
If you want to make the same transformation - from bland to bold, wallpaper might just be the trick.
